Weight loss

May 7th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Weight

Well a lack of weight loss actually. The usual Sunday morning routine of stripping off starkers and trudging along to the bathroom - home of our weighing scales - is beginning to get me a little bit cheesed off. Not because of the routine, but becuase I can’t seem to shift the pounds at the moment. Grrrrrr.

I’ve been around the 16st 10lbs mark on and off for a good few weeks now - which is bugging me to say the least. Having been 16st 4lbs over the Christmas period I’m not happy with the fact that I’ve gained 6 lbs.

I suppose it’s understandable though as my eating habits haven’t been as stringent as they were pre-Christmas and my training certainly has’t been at the same intensity. So I’ve no-one to blame but myself - so a kick up the arse is long overdue I think, don’t you?

Thankfully with my parents visiting us for the best part of the day, I didn’t have the time to wallow in my self pity for very long and the house of DDWT was spared a miserable Sunday in the company of moi.

Have you voted?

I thought I’d get my vote in early this morning and avoid the rush, but obviously lots of other punters had the same idea. If my local polling station (in Clydach) was an indicator of the day ahead, then business was going to be brisk! Personally, I hope it is and that people do indeed use their vote.

I was always a fan of devolution, and was glad to read Auntie Beeb’s report that people in Wales seem to be warming to the idea. I’ve voted Labour, but only just and it was a keen toss up between them and Plaid. Firstly, because I felt that Edwina Heart (Gower) had done a good job in my constituency and because (and I must stress I’m no political buff) I felt that Labour and Plaid are the only two parties who will do devolution justice in Wales. No doubt it will be an interesting Assembly setup *if* there is a coalition between Labour and Plaid.

‘Twas a rest day from training for me today, so I decided to use the time to catch up on some long overdue jobs in work. Boring maybe, but productive nevertheless.

Sanitary inspector?

A stroll into one of the gents toilets in work today was a rather interesting experience, not in a vulgar way you understand, but in a bizarre printed-sign-stuck-on-the-wall-with-blu-tac kind of way.

Now maybe I’m being a bit dim or naive, but usually when I go to the loo I wash my hands as a matter of course. Now I’m not saying that I’m into toilet cleanliness in a Jean Claude Van Dam kind of way (i.e. allegedly washes his hands before having a number one and afterwards), but I do appreciate that hygeine and genitals go - if you pardon the pun - hand in hand.

Obviously, some people don’t share that view - hence the need for the sign I guess. Perhaps, what bothers me more is that fact that the sign was a in gents loo near the Education office block. Surely the inhabitants can’t be suggesting that we need telling about washing our hands can they? Tsch, teachers eh.

With Swansea still basking in the sunshine and tempartures hitting the low 70’s the 14.3 mile lunchtime ride was lush. Our route around Limeslade and SA1 was both scenic and relaxing, but we still managed to clock up a 15.4 mph average - so a useful workout was had as well.
